I’ve decided to try something new with my blogs: I am going to read them aloud. I thought it would be kind of cool and add a more personal touch – and maybe it would be less daunting than reading four paragraphs of text! So, I’m trying it out.
On Saturday night, Dan and I went to a friend’s high school graduation party. It was a surprise for her – she was told that she would be attending a wedding – set up by her family and a family friend. Her younger brother made sure to invite all of her close friends and the teachers who have made an significant impact on her life, so it was really wonderful.
The events of the party were so touching. I dissolved when all her teachers stood up and said why they loved her and what made her so awesome. I can’t imagine how much I would melt if anyone said such nice things about me. We, her friends, also rose to speak about her. It was beautiful.
Everything said was genuine and heartfelt. Although it’s expected that people will tell you nice things at your own party, we all meant it. She is one of the greatest people I know. Not only is she insanely intelligent (I really think she’s a genius), but she’s an amazing person overall. As I said to her, some people would let brilliance turn into arrogance. A lot of people wouldn’t know how to deal with greatness. She handles it with grace and modesty. She is so generous with her talents; never has she said to me (or anyone else, it seems) that she didn’t want to or have time to help us out with whatever our problems were. She is simply incredible.
I am truly privileged to have her as a friend. I know, without question, that she will continue to achieve great things – certainly on a small, personal scale as she does now, but almost undoubtedly will she contribute significantly to science and mathematics too. She is a beautiful person, and I am honored to have been invited to celebrate her graduation with her and her family. I am very fortunate to have her as a friend, and I am excited for her as she continues on to Princeton University, where she will shine in the brilliant way I know she can.
I know I made a few reading errors and got tongue-tied at a few moments in my ‘audio blog’ – but let me know what you think. Should I continue to do this, or is it just a waste of my time and space?

Aw, glad the party was so great! I can’t imagine how much blushing I would be doing. x)
I like the audio blog idea… and yea, you did mess up a few times, but as you keep going, you’ll get use to it and make fewer mistakes.

Thanks once again for all your help with my new layout. I finally got it to work and I appreciate your help so much!
Sounds like a really awesome party. What a great idea to have everyone say nice things about her like that! It’s nice when you have a friend like that who is just an amazing person all around
I think the audio blog is a really good idea. I found that I still had to read it to properly understand it and to think about it, so what I did was I listened to it while I read and it was really cool. I definitely think you should keep doing it!
