Back to School  August 29th

Click here to listen. If you don’t feel like reading, let me read this to you!

On Tuesday my parents and I took the 280ish mile (or about 450 km) journey up to college again. I’m back for my second year of chemistry and education excitement, which will all begin on Monday. The reason I came back early (most upperclassmen are not allowed to move into campus housing until this weekend) was because of my peer advising responsibilities for the School of Education. Luckily, my roommate Nicole was able to move in on Wednesday, so I didn’t have to be all alone this whole time. Since her grandparents live in the area, her family spends the week with them during move-in and move-out times. On a whim, they decided to see if housing officials would let her move in early, and they let her! I’m assuming it’s because we’re not living on main campus, so she wasn’t interfering with first-years moving in to their dormitories. Now pretty much everything is in our apartment, so expect to see pictures soon!

My peer advising activities have been so hectic over the past couple days. I was so tired yesterday that I found myself ready to fall asleep around 10 PM. I’ve had a lot of fun, and I’m happy to see that most of my advisees are enthusiastic about getting on the right track for school. Unfortunately, one of mine failed to show up at our mandatory event yesterday! Therefore, he missed out on getting his most up-to-date class schedule, meeting with his faculty advisor, and gaining the ability to change classes if his happen to be incorrect! Oh well, that’s his fault; I reminded him about it at least twice. College or university is high time to start accepting personal responsibility for your actions… and accepting the consequences as well.

Tomorrow is the last day before classes start again; I am officially a sophomore! I’m excited to see everyone again, but the studying and stress… well, that doesn’t thrill me so much. My roommate and I are trying to plan a get-together with all of our good friends at our place, and I hope everyone comes. Our friend Sherman offered to cook, too, so I’m glad that it won’t just be me cooking a meal for everyone! That certainly wouldn’t be enough for all 11 of us (if everyone comes), haha! Hopefully it turns out well! I want to have time to catch up with everyone before we’re all swamped by schoolwork again.

And don’t forget to submit something to my new literary magazine, Killer Jewels! Writing, art, and photography are all accepted! If you made it, you can submit it!
