The Adventure (II) September 21st
I am not dead. But you might have been able to assume that since I put up a new theme, and if you follow me on Twitter, then you may have noticed my occasional Tweets. Life has been busy. Unlike last year, I have required homework instead of optional homework all the time, and overall, there’s just a lot to do with academics and my fraternity, Alpha Chi Sigma. So, busy busy busy have I been! And, of course, I am not using my time wisely… as I had an adventure this weekend instead of being productive.
My friend Katy decided she wanted her car down here at school. She initially didn’t bring it because there are other ways of getting around, but it really would be a lot more convenient if she had it here. Her mom agreed to come down and get her, and my roommate Nicole and I tagged along for the trip. Katy lives in Massachusetts, and her house, where her car was, is five to six hours away from our school. Yup, we went all the way there… and then we came back almost immediately. This would seem like a more reasonable trip if we had left early. That didn’t happen, and it wasn’t the plan, anyway. We left campus around 4 PM. We arrived at Katy’s house around 9:30 PM. We left again two hours later. Then we finally got back to school around 5 AM. Was this a great use of my time? Nope! But it was indeed an adventure. For some reason, Katy’s mom seemed to be confused at every toll booth, and on the way back, there was super thick fog! You couldn’t see ten feet in front of you, and you couldn’t see anything around you because it was so dark. It was like being in a dream, and it was like we were all alone… although we kind of were, since there aren’t too many cars out at 3 AM.
And yesterday, Nicole and I decided to make chocolate chip cookies! That was an adventure in itself, too! We made a big mess. Apparently, we needed a bigger bowl to mix our cookie dough in. And our mixer was insane. Speed 1 was so fast! I’m pretty sure the first speed is supposed to be kind of slow, but no, not on this one. Speed 5 was just ridiculously fast. And then we used it for too long and it overheated. We had to mix up the last of the flour with spoons. But it all turned out fine! We now have about 45 cookies, and they are quite yummy indeed.
